In this live demonstration first broadcast on 17th March 2020, I demonstrated the process of turning a simple ash bowl which will make for a great beginners project. The recording and the description are taken directly from YouTube.
I will take you through the techniques I use for turning the bowl, and get some creative juices flowing to colour and embellish it.
If you want to try this project yourself, you will need: – An Ash blank (or any pale open grained wood blank); – A bowl gouge – I’ll be using a Sorby 3/8″ Excelsior gouge; – A round Skew, and perhaps a standard one; – Simon Hope Bowl Sander and abrasive discs; – Colours from the Intrinsic Colour Collection by Hampshire Sheen – Embellishing and Finishing Waxes by Hampshire Sheen. There may be some other products, too.
Whilst the demo is completely free to watch, please consider using the Super Chat feature to contribute to the costs of the evening. Thank you.
