For this project I have used an oak branch (about 7” in diameter) which was felled in the late summer….. while initially I though I might get away with no too much movement, over the past week the pith has opened a bit and in a few places the cambium has parted from the wood. All told, though, I’m pleased with the outcome and in particular the “tulip” shape of the bowl.
I’ve not done much wet turning before and was surprised at the amount of moisture that was thrown off as I was turning the outside . Also, when turning the inside of the bowl the water thrown off got very warm ! A learning experience for sure !
